How to analyze Stripe revenue, MRR, and churn

Connect Stripe to Tablize and ask about MRR, net revenue after refunds, churn cohorts, and failed payments in plain English — no SQL required.

Stripe’s dashboard is good at showing you what happened today. It’s less good at the recurring-revenue questions founders actually lose sleep over: where MRR is really trending, which cohort is churning, how much revenue refunds and failed payments quietly erase. Those answers live across charges, subscriptions, invoices, and disputes — and Tablize will assemble them for you from a plain-English question.

Why MRR and churn are tricky to compute

MRR isn’t a column you can read off; it’s a calculation over active subscriptions, plan changes, upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations at a point in time. Net revenue means subtracting refunds and chargebacks. Churn means defining a cohort and tracking it forward. Each is a query people get subtly wrong in a spreadsheet — which is why the numbers in two reports rarely match.

Connect Stripe

Connect Stripe in a couple of clicks — see the Stripe integration guide. Charges, customers, subscriptions, invoices, and disputes sync into your workspace, and Tablize understands how they relate, so it can compute MRR, churn, and net revenue consistently.

Ask in plain English

Ask for the metric the way you’d say it out loud. The agent writes the SQL, runs it against your live Stripe data, and explains the result — and in Deep Analysis mode it samples and sanity-checks the numbers before presenting them, so an MRR figure is auditable, not a guess.

Keep it running

Turn the answer into a Monday revenue brief, a churn watcher that alerts you when a cohort slips, or a live MRR/ARR dashboard. Start from an analysis template, or reconcile Stripe against your own database by chatting with your data.

Questions to ask once connected

  • "What is my MRR trend over the last 6 months?"
  • "Which customers churned in the last 30 days and what did they pay before?"
  • "Show failed payments grouped by failure reason for the last 30 days."
  • "What is my net revenue after refunds and chargebacks this month?"
